WHITE OWL WINGS
BY JODENE SHAW
Lesson 8
One day today became the day.
"Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!
There are seasons for waiting and preparing.
That is exactly what we have been doing.
Then there comes a day to plan the journey and start on your course.
Some things will only be learned in the mess that happens along the way.
Give yourself permission to make mistakes, stumble with your words, and get distracted.
Then commit to learning, asking for forgiveness, and getting back on track.
The journey is where you find out how God is faithful.
It is in the unknowing and the unanswered questions that we might grasp for him
as if we were fighting a breath while sinking in deep waters.
I'm holding your hand.
What will your first step be?
What does that step require of you?
When will you take a step?
How will you create space for your journey over the edge
out into the unknown?
What will you carry with you?

Psalm Verses for Your Tool Box
The Psalms of the Bible were songs.
In fact, today we sing many of them often without realizing it.
Certainly, you can take your own journey in the psalms.
But like the songs above, I thought I'd give you a few verses to carry with you.
Psalm 143: 7-8
Answer me speedily, O LORD;
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me,
Lest I be like those who
go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.
Psalm 142: 3
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me,
Then You knew my path.
Psalm 139:24
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
