MAY SIXTEENTH. A BIRD PRAYER ANNIVERSARY

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Baltimore Orioles
Lazuli Bunting

"Mom, come outside and listen!
It sounds beautiful out this morning!"
Erin Shaw, age 8. May 12, 2015
Two fun blessings after I made these videos:
1. The quote from my daughter Erin above was one year, to the date, before I recorded this video.
2. At 8 minutes 15 seconds, in the first video about May 16, a myrtle warbler flies above my head.
It seems appropriate for the words I was speaking at the moment.
Some things are planned more perfectly than I could plan...

SOME BIRD SONG FUN
Below are links to a charmingly bird-nerdy spin-off of the game Guitar Hero
called Bird Song Hero.
It is created by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
There is a video that shows a visual representation of a bird song
to help you better remember the name of the bird that goes with the song.
Learning the songs, to me, is one way to become more familiar with the land
in which I am currently rooted.
It's a way of becoming fascinated with the ordinary beauty right where I am
without having to travel to a far off place
(although that is sometimes nice).
It's a way to fall in love with where I am,
and that's a path of abundant life.
